Acupuncture is the world’s oldest continuously practiced medicine, first developed in China over 4,000 years ago. Today, over two billion people worldwide use acupuncture for primary health care or to complement Western medical treatments. Acupuncture has been recognized by the World Health Organization and by the National Institutes of Health as a safe and effective treatment for many ailments.
Acupuncture is a holistic practice, meaning that the healing perspective takes the personality, habits and overarching needs of the patient into account when treating the collection of symptoms. Together with the practitioner, each patient takes an active role in supporting and strengthening his or her physical, mental, emotional and spiritual states, thereby uniquely addressing that person’s needs.
I received my Masters of Acupuncture from the Traditional Acupuncture Institute in Columbia, Maryland and my National Certification from the NCCAOM. A practitioner of Chinese herbal medicine, I am also a member of the Michigan Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Alliance (MAAOM) and of the American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (AAAOM). I earned my B.A. from Wesleyan University in East Asian Studies.
